The search is launched today (4 April) for people across Worcestershire who were born in the same year as The Queen – 1926.
Her Majesty is celebrating her official 90 birthday this year and to mark the event her local representative, the Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, and the Mayor of Worcester are hosting Tea for The Queen, a party for county residents who will also be turning 90 this year.
Marks & Spencer are kindly sponsoring this right royal event, which will be held in Worcestershire’s county town at Worcester Guildhall on Saturday June 11, the date of The Queen’s official birthday.
Applications for Tea for the Queen tickets are open from today.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Lt Col Patrick Holcroft, said: “The Queen’s 90 birthday is an occasion for national celebration. I am delighted to be jointly hosting Tea for The Queen, as it will give Worcestershire people who are reaching the same milestone as Her Majesty the chance to join the celebrations of her remarkable reign.
“It will be a great pleasure to spend the afternoon in their company and hear their stories of the last nine decades.”
The Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Roger Knight, added: “Everyone born in 1926 has lived through remarkable times alongside The Queen, from the Second World War to her Coronation and beyond. Tea for The Queen will give local people a chance to relive the experiences they have shared with Her Majesty.”

Places at the tea party are limited, so names of attendees will be drawn in a ballot of all applications received.
Each lucky nonagenarian who secures a ticket for the event will be able to bring one guest with them.
The Lord Lt of Worcestershire said: “I’m looking forward to receiving applications from across Worcestershire for this very special event to mark the 90 birthday of our remarkable Queen and monarch.”
A wide range of other events will be held across Worcestershire to mark Her Majesty’s birthday, including the lighting of beacons on April 21, the date of The Queen’s actual birthday, and a flotilla of boats on the River Severn on June 11.
