Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle is appealing for new volunteers to help deliver its exciting programme of annual events.
There are currently two volunteer roles available within the museum; Activities Volunteer and Events Volunteer.
Activities volunteers help out during the week in half terms and school holidays to help children with hands on craft activities. Some of the ones we will be providing for February Half Term include origami windmills, tissue flowers and tree collages.
Event volunteers are needed to help on our special event days which include traditional May Days, Christmas grotto weekends, Heritage Open Days and family fun days with themes such as Pirates, Animals, Knights & Princesses and Dinosaurs. These events take place once a month on Sundays or Bank Holidays. Volunteers are needed to help with all kinds of things on these days, from meeting and greeting visitors to car parking, serving refreshments & raffle stalls. We are also always happy to hear from anyone who would be interested in dressing up and interacting with the visitors on event days, whether that be as a scullery maid or butler, king or queen, pirate or princess.
Museum Events Volunteer Ann Salisbury said, "Volunteering at Hartlebury is such fun, it gives me great satisfaction to see children of all ages enjoying the activities that Hartlebury provide. It takes me out of my daily life and enables me to put something back into the community."
By arrangement, anyone who would like to find out more about helping with holiday craft activities would be welcome to 'shadow' one of our current volunteers during this month's half term.
In addition, our partners the Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust are also looking for volunteers to help them steward the Castle's State Rooms and Chapel, help with their fundraising events and assist with garden maintenance.
