New statistics out today (December 9), have put Worcester's The Hive in the top two libraries for lending in the country.
The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) annual public library figures revealed today that not only is The Hive in second position for book lending and other loans in the country, it is also the seventh most visited library.
In 2014/5 The Hive issued a grand total of 899,383 items and had 870,660 visits.
Kathy Kirk, Strategic Libraries and Learning Manager for Worcestershire County Council said: "We are very pleased to discover that The Hive has ranked so highly in terms of issues and visits as it is such challenging time for libraries. The Hive is a busy and vibrant community hub providing lots of services and an extensive programme of events and activities all of which are very popular with Worcestershire residents, students and businesses."
