New cycle stands help local community in Harvington

Worcestershire County Council has helped a convenience store in Harvington provide cycle stands to meet a demand for secure parking.

The Council provided the stands to Cary Shergill at Harvington Convenience Store in Leys Road on the condition they arranged for installation.

Harvington Parish Council made the county council aware of the local demand. The funding for the four stands came from a planning agreement in relation to a local development.

There are another 10 cycle stands available for the Harvington area and the council is inviting applications from any local business, school or employer. For more details email scheme@worcestershire.gov.uk.

Cllr John Smith, Worcestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said: "These stands provide secure and convenient parking for cyclists, helping to contribute towards increased levels of sustainable travel in the area."
