The Windsor Row Footbridge in Worcester City Centre will re-open tomorrow (Friday 12th June, 2015) at midday, nearly three weeks ahead of schedule.
The Worcestershire County Council scheme has included resurfacing the bridge in non-slip materials, repainting of the railings and structural repairs.
Work began on 26 May and the investment was designed to improve the attractiveness of this important link between the St Martin's multi-storey car park and the city centre.
The contractors, Alun Griffiths Ltd, responded to local traders' concerns by increasing working hours to speed up delivery of this essential scheme.
Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet Member for Highways, Councillor John Smith MBE, said: "I am absolutely delighted that our contractors have been able to respond to traders' concerns by delivering this fantastic scheme so quickly.
"I'm sure local traders and residents will agree that this will provide a much more attractive traffic-free gateway into Worcester City Centre going forward."
