Young writers who want to perfect their poetry skills are being invited to a free workshop by performance poet Jonny Fluffypunk.
The flamboyant poet will be passing on his skills at The Studio in The Hive, Worcester on Friday, October 31 between 2.30pm and 5pm.
The high energy event is free but places are limited to 30 and are expected to be taken up quickly.
Natalie McVey, from the Libraries and Learning Service, said: "This is a unique opportunity for young people to benefit from an interactive, high impact poetry writing session. Hopefully they will be enthused enough to enter our Word Up! Young Poet Laureate competition."
Cllr Lucy Hodgson, County Council Cabinet Member for Localism and Communities, said: "This workshop is a great way for young people to learn from a skilled poet and gain confidence in their own writing skills as well as encouraging them to become part of the search for our next Poet Laureate."
Jonny has performed and given workshops at schools and venues across the country and more details about his work can be found at www.jonnyfluffypunk.co.uk
The Word Up! contest is open to anyone aged between 13 and 19 who lives in, or goes to school, college, university or a youth club in the county.
Entrants have to submit two poems, one of the subject of 'Heroes and Inspiration' and another on a subject of their own choice.
Malvern 19-year-old Holly Perrett said of her time as the current Young Poet Laureate: "I have been invited to perform at a wide variety of events, which have really opened doors for me. I would totally recommend anyone interested to enter this year's competition. Who knows where it might lead you?"
