There will be magic and mayhem at St John's Library at a special Halloween event this month in partnership with Worcestershire Literary Festival.
The spooky event on Friday, October 31 takes place between 1pm and 4.30pm and there will be lots of fun activities for children of all ages to get involved with.
Animal Mania will be returning to the library with their wonderful selection of animals. Children will have the opportunity to handle some of the animals and learn some amazing facts about them.
Andy's Magic will also be joining the day's activities with two magic shows, commencing at 2pm and 3.15pm. The fun shows feature audience participation in doing magic tricks and making balloon animals with the opportunity to buy some of the balloon creatures.
There will also be lots of other Halloween related activities including pumpkin carving, spooky stories, a tombola, and a fancy dress competition with prizes. Spooky food and drink will be available to purchase.
The event is aimed at children aged up to 12 years old and is free of charge, although entrance to the magic shows is by ticket only. Magic show tickets are free and available from St John's Library, but are subject to either joining the library service or borrowing two items from the library between now and October 30, 2014. Places for the magic shows are limited and tickets will be allocated on a first come basis.
St John's Library manager, Paul Etheridge, said: "We're really looking forward to celebrating Halloween with our visitors. Whether you're a regular library user or this is the first time through our doors, why not come along for some scary fun?"
Cllr Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Localism and Communities, said: "St John's always provides great events for the community and it's even better when they are free to enjoy."
