Never mind New Year, New You to start off 2020; how many of you have thought about New Year, New Career?
Redditch Library is hosting an apprenticeship and careers advice event on Wednesday 5th February between 10:30am - 12:30pm.
The event forms part of a wider programme of events the County Council is hosting to mark National Apprentice Week. There will be opportunities to apply for apprenticeships on the day.
Councillor Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Communities said: “Previous events of this nature have proved to be very successful, receiving excellent feedback from attendees. Redditch Library and Job Centre Plus have developed a great working relationship, and these events are a wonderful opportunity to improve career prospects for our local communities.”
Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Education and Skills said: “This event is open to a much wider age range than previous events. Apprenticeships are not just for school leavers, and they are a great way of preparing yourself for a new career path. This route has proved to be very popular and very successful in recent years in Worcestershire, and I would encourage anyone thinking of taking up an apprenticeship to attend this event.”
A diverse mix of providers will be available to talk to at the event, and help you learn about the educational, training and apprenticeship opportunities that are currently available across the county.
Providers will also be on hand to help attendees brush up on their interview techniques.
This is the 4th event that Job Centre Plus and Redditch Library have co-hosted and a great example of joint working to deliver opportunities for local people.
Around 18 organisations are attending the event including Worcestershire Apprenticeships, HoW College, The Square Metre, BARN, Young Solutions and Aspiration Training and Building Better Opportunities.
Anyone aged 18-40 is welcome to attend the event.
National Apprenticeships Week is an annual week-long celebration of apprenticeships across England. This year’s celebration will run from 3rd to 9th February.
Across this year’s celebration, Worcestershire Apprenticeships are running a number of different promotions and events including a number of ‘where are they now’ case studies.
These are featuring middle and seniors managers who started their career as an apprentice to demonstrate the senior career positions that can be reached through this career pathway.
