How do I look after my documents and family history?

Lady cleaning documents Published Friday, 12th October 2018

A workshop helping you clean and care for your precious documents and books will be held at The Hive.

The workshop will offer advice as well as allowing participants to have a go cleaning their own documents.

Rhonda Niven, Conservator, Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service, said, "When people come round and see us working on the documents in the archives they often ask about what they can do look after their own family documents.

"In this workshop we'll help people to know what they can do, and have a go at cleaning their documents and creating a box to store them in."

This is a hands-on chance to clean your own documents before placing them in archival folders and boxes to keep them safe.

This workshop will help you with caring for and cleaning your own documents. We’ve had a number of requests for guidance on how people can look after their own family papers and records, and Rhonda will share some advice as well as getting participants to have a go at cleaning their own documents.

The workshop takes place on Friday 19 October 10am-1pm. It costs £40 including materials.

The course can be booked online through http://www.thehiveworcester.org/explore-the-past-events
