Dennis and the rest of the Beano gang are taking over The Hive in Worcester as the library gets ready to host plenty of mischief making events.

Over the course of the summer, children from Worcestershire are invited to The Hive to take part in all sorts of Beano related events and activities.

The first one comes courtesy of WeAreBeard who are running a Comic Character Masterclass on Saturday, 7 July and Thursday, 26 July. Children will then be able to take their creations home with them.

On Mondays and Thursday each week beginning on Monday, 23 July, Mischief-Making sessions include Pop Up Pranks! Cartoon Faces, Comic Strip Creation and Beano Wars.

Young people aged 12 to 24 can also participate by volunteering to support younger children to complete. Just contact NMcvey@worcestershire.gov.uk or text 07876144905.

On Saturday, 15 September it is the late, great Roald Dahl Day at The Hive with a host of jumpsquiffling activities for kids to get involved in and celebrate the work of this iconic author.

Chris Ryder from WittyPics is holding a number of Caricature Masterclasses on Saturday, 22 September for all those budding young artists who want to try their hand at something funny - caricatures.

Janine Downes, Library Manager at The Hive, said: "The Summer Reading Challenge is always a wonderful time of year. We have so much going on here there really is something for everyone. We have lots of fun but the underlying aim is to encourage children to continue reading throughout the summer holidays. We know it makes a difference to their reading levels when they return to school and gives them a real head start.

"Mischief Makers at The Hive is going to be fantastic and I, and all of us here at The Hive, hope everyone gets involved and makes this year one to shout about. Now get making mischief kids! Responsibly of course."
