Claines Church will play host to a magic slide lantern event that will showcase the work of one of their former church organists; Worcestershire's Arthur Whinfield.
All Round The World will take place on Saturday 7th July, beginning at 7:30pm, and is curated by artist Redhawk Logistica on behalf of Worcestershire's Archive and Archaeology Service. There will also be a showing at Huntingdon Hall on July 28th.
Arthur Whinfield was also a local civil engineer, traveller, keen writer and photographer who travelled across the country and all around the world. He often shared his writings and slides with the people in his home county of Worcestershire.
Held by Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service, Arthur's slides are being cleaned, catalogued and digitised. They will now be shared with the public as part of art installations and screenings so that people can see them for the first time in 100 years.
Justin Hughes, Project Officer, said, "This is an amazing collection of slides, unseen for many years but can now be shared more widely. It should be extra special because we'll be recreating one of Whinfield's slide shows in the church where he played the organ for many years."
The show, which promises to be a journey through time and space, will be narrated by Poet Paul Conneally.
Funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, the event is part of the Celebrating Whinfield project that is digitising, cataloguing and sharing 1800 lantern slides.
There are still limited tickets available from Claines Parish Hall which is open from Monday-Friday. For more information please call 01905 759702.
