Two libraries undergoing a programme of improvement works in preparation for the co-location of Jobcentre Plus will be closed for two weeks to allow for the completion of essential building works.
Both Kidderminster Library and Redditch Library will close on Monday, 26th February and will reopen again on Monday, 12th March at 9am.
As a result of the works, the libraries will see improvements made to interior space, including new furniture layouts, carpets and decoration.
Councillor Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: "We know how important libraries are to people and by sharing library space with other organisations, it means we can reduce overall costs and ensure the future of these vital services.
"We've already seen successful co-locations with job centres at Malvern Library and Bromsgrove Parkside, which have both benefitted from upgraded library facilities and an increase in library customers."
The works at Kidderminster and Redditch libraries are in direct response to the National One Public Estate Programme which seeks to deliver efficiencies through better use of public property and enables funds to be used for frontline services.
While Kidderminster Library and Redditch Library are both closed, customers can access services at nearby libraries in Bewdley, Stourport, Woodrow and Alvechurch. Customers can also join the library, renew loans, search the catalogue, make reservations, download e-books and audio books and access online reference sources on the Libraries and Learning website at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/librariesandlearning
It is also possible to speak Libraries and Learning staff by calling the Worcestershire Hub on 01905 822722 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday or the 24-hour automated renewal system on the same number.
