The go ahead for a major scheme to improve congestion and journey time reliability in Pershore has been approved by Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet.

As one of the fastest growing economies in the country, Worcestershire is truly open for business. Record investment is happening in road and rail infrastructure, unlocking key employment sites and providing vital congestion-busting schemes at a time of rapidly increasing housing needs.

The £11.6m Pershore improvement scheme includes a Northern Link Road to connect the employment site of Keytec Business Park with the A44, enhancements at Pinvin crossroads to alleviate current and future congestion in the area and the upgrade of the Wyre Road / Station Road junction.

Cllr Ken Pollock Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Economy and Infrastructure, said:

"These proposed improvements in the Pershore area are a priority for Worcestershire County Council, Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (WLEP), the Chamber of Commerce and local MP's as well as local residents and commuters".

"We are looking to make a huge positive impact on the surrounding area by reducing travel times and costs as well as making it easier for people to get into and out of the area.

"The improvement to journey times and convenience for local residents, businesses and visitors will mean greater accessibility, which will support the growth of the local economy."

The proposed improvements scheme seeks to address transport issues in Pershore by upgrading the links between Pershore town centre and the A44. This scheme includes comprises of the following key scheme elements:

•         The construction of a Northern Link Road. The Link Road will provide a direct connection between the Keytec Business Park in Pershore and the A44;

•         The enhancement of the A44 Pinvin Crossroads. This will reinforce the Northern Link Road as the main north/south route between Pershore and the A44.

Construction is due to start in Autumn 2018.

Engagement sessions for local residents and road users will take place in early November 2017, where more information about the scheme will be shared.

A number of these sessions will have staff available to cover questions about the scheme.  Details of these sessions are below:
