Statement from Worcestershire's Director of Public Health, Dr Frances Howie

Worcestershire's Director of Public Health Dr Frances Howie said:

"We are working closely with Severn Trent Water and Public Health England to ensure that the water supply in the Tenbury area is used safely. Our advice to people in those areas is not to use the water for drinking, preparing food or brushing their teeth. The water is safe to use for bathing and flushing the toilet, but we advise that people take care when bathing young children in case they accidentally drink the bath water. There are bottled water stations in Tenbury and there is plenty of drinking water available. We will continue to work closely with Severn Trent Water to monitor the situation."
