Autumn Magic

Four fun family days of Autumn themed craft activities. You can also carve a pumpkin for your Halloween celebrations.

An additional charge of £2 per child applies for the day's activities, plus a small charge for your pumpkin.

Ghosts and Gunpowder

Get ready for a week of intrigue and fun as we decipher puzzles and challenges to try and save The Commandery from gunpowder plotters!

  • 11am and 2pm*: Decipher puzzles and challenges to save The Commandery from gunpowder plotters on our half-term trail! Suitable for ages 5+. Activities cost £3 per child towards materials. Activity session lasts 1 hour.
  • 11.30am and 2.15pm* Discover spooky stories on a ghost tour through one of Worcester’s oldest buildings. Suitable for ages 11+. Tour lasts 1 hour.

*Afternoon tours and activities only on Sundays

Hartlebury Castle’s History as a WWI Voluntary Aid Detachment Hospital: 'A Happy Convalescence'

Stories of fun, friendship and romance that offered a brief respite from the front lines for injured soldiers sent to recover at Hartlebury Castle Hospital.

The exhibition will feature real objects from the trenches, including gas masks, cigarettes and even a surgeon's kit used at the front. The exhibition has been curated from Museum Worcestershire’s collection along with loans from George Marshall Medical Museum, The Mercian Regiment Museum and from local people.

A Happy Convalescence, is part of the Worcestershire World War One Hundred project.

  • Cost: Family drop in session (£3.00 for materials)

Come and print all manner of ghosts, black cats, toads, owls, witches and wizards in Stephen Fowler’s Halloween themed printing workshop.

You will be shown how to make creative rollers and rubber stamps, and an archive of Fowler’s rubber stamps will be available to use. We will make a collective print picture, and participants can take a number of prints home with them.

The War to End All Wars

  • Cost: FREE entry

Using artefacts from the Museums Worcestershire and partner collections, this exhibition will explore how our future was changed for ever by the First World War.

WW1's legacy was a wide impact on life in the C20th, making changes in class structure, politics, fashion, food production as well as our national defence.

Please note that Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum is closed Sundays.
