WWI armistice day
  • Date: 11th November 2018
  • Time: 11:00 - 16:00
  • Location: City Art Gallery and Museum
  • Cost: Free (some events require reservation)

On Sunday 11th November the people of Worcester will be invited to come together in remembrance of the brave men and women who sacrificed so much for us in the Great War.

At 12:00 there will be a performance of Harvey’s War Letters - a remarkable programme of music and poetry inspired by letters sent from the trenches by Harvey George Frost (1893-1974) by the Cavan Trio: Janine Parsons (piano), Corinne Frost (cello) and Helena Cavan (readings). It is especially poignant to note that Corrine is the granddaughter of Harvey.

In addition there will be craft activities for children, a poppy drop at 15:00 and much more.

The Art Gallery & Museum will be open from 11:00 to 16:00.

The performance of Harvey’s War Letters is a free but ticketed event - please book your place by calling the Art Gallery on 01905 25371.

This exhibition explores ordinary people's voices against a world of corporate and political messages.

In recent years, fast-paced news sharing and populist vote winners have left us with frustrations about our own ability to be heard. Using the Museum's historic collection of satire and political prints alongside artworks by contemporary British artists Gillian Wearing and Mark Titchner, this exhibition explores ordinary people's voices against a world of corporate and political messages.
