If you are concerned about the quality of care given to your child, or health and safety issues, or the behaviour of a member of staff, it is important that you tell somebody about your concerns.
Who to report to:
- the childcare provider should have its own complaints procedures, telling you what to do if you are concerned about something; if you are not satisfied with the outcomes of your complaint it is important you continue to express your concerns
- the Early Years and Childcare Service (EYCS) can give you advice and support on where to go to report a problem or concern; they cannot directly investigate a setting, but they can liaise with other services that can; anything told to the EYCS is confidential – unless they believe a child is at risk of significant harm, where they would involve other agencies such as Social Care or the police; contact them on 01905 678134 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
- if you are concerned about the quality of a setting, or the welfare of your child, you can report it to Ofsted; make sure you have as much information as you can – such as the name and address of the childcare setting – to validate your concern; contact them on 0300 123 1231 or email email@example.com
- if you are concerned that a child is at risk of significant harm, or believe that a member of staff is behaving inappropriately see our Safeguarding Children pages
