Stronger Families

The Stronger Families programme is Worcestershire's response to the government's 'Troubled Families' agenda and forms part of the targeted family support offered to families across Worcestershire. The support is available to families with complex needs ie:

  • having an adult on out of work benefits,
  • children not being in school (absence/exclusions)
  • family members being involved in crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Children who need help
  • Families affected by domestic abuse
  • Parents and children with  health needs.(physical/ mental/ substance misuse)

Additional grant funding is being made available to local authorities to support intensive and challenging work with families who meet at least two of the above criteria.

The programme is delivered by family support teams across the county and includes:

  • A 'key worker' coordinating support for the family
  • Multi-agency working with all family members, and
  • Co-working with social care teams
