Free Childcare for 2 Year Olds

Some two year old children in Worcestershire could be entitled to 15 hours of free early education a week from the term after their second birthday.

To be eligible for a free place in a childcare setting such a nursery or registered childminder, children must be living in a household that receives one or more of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credits with an annual household income of less than £16,190
  • Working Tax Credits with an annual household income of less than £16.190

Postcards with details of how to apply for funding are automatically sent out to households who may meet these criteria.

If you are NOT in receipt of any of the benefits listed above, your child may also be entitled to two year old funding if they:

  • Are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for your two year old child
  • Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Are a Looked After Child (LAC)
  • Are Adopted or a Child who has left care
  • Have a current Child Protection Plan

Once your application has been processed we will notify you of the outcome either by email or post.  You will only be able to claim funding from the date your application is approved.
