Hollywood flood 27 May 2018

On 27 May 2018 an extremely intense rainfall event hit Hollywood and parts of the wider Wythall parish. Parts of neighbouring Birmingham and Solihull were also badly impacted. Two months-worth of rain (130mm) fell in just two hours with an estimated probability of 1 in 2,000 years or 0.05% in any year. This resulted in surface water and watercourse flooding which had a range of relatively minor impacts on infrastructure but a devastating impact on more than 300 residential properties and businesses. For the latest information about the flood event and what is happening in the future please see Hollywood Flooding.
