Learning Support (LST) is an intervention service that helps schools to support pupils who have learning difficulties. The majority of the Team’s work is offered at School Action Plus as described in the SEN Code of Practice (2001). In addition, the Team monitors pupils where this is identified in their statement of SEN.
The funding for the Learning Support Team is delegated to schools to enable schools to purchase the services they require. School support work is purchased by schools, on an annual basis, through a Service Level Agreement (SLA). This not only provides schools with a number of sessions working with children and young people, it also allows schools to access specialist advice and resources. A copy of the SLA can be found on the Team’s shared drive.
As well as offering schools a core service through the SLA, the service provides schools with additional services on an additional buy-back basis.
Much of this additional work focuses on the in-service training needs of schools, as well as conducting assessments for access arrangements.
