Population Statistics and Projections
The Research Team holds information on the population of Worcestershire. In addition to the census material released every 10 years, the Office for National Statistics (opens in a new window) (ONS) release annual mid-year estimates for Worcestershire and the six districts within. These mid-year estimates are split gender and 5 year age groups.
The most recent population estimates available are for mid-2016, and were released by ONS in June 2017. The next set of population estimates are due to be released in June 2018.
There are currently estimated to be 583,000 people living within the county of Worcestershire. This estimate includes all the people who usually live there. UK and non-UK armed forces personnel stationed in the UK are included and students are taken to be a resident at their term time address. Alternatively you can download complete data for Worcestershire, districts or any other areas of interest direct from the ONS population estimates website (opens in a new window).
The ONS also produce population projections for Worcestershire and the six districts. The most recent projections were released in May 2016 and use mid-2014 population estimates as a base.
