Learning and Outreach

Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service has a dedicated Learning and Outreach team who deliver events and activities to over 6,000 people per year. From Pre-School children to care home residents, we have something for everyone. We believe that connecting people to the past helps to inspire appreciation of our shared human stories, nurture a sense of place and shed new light on familiar sights.

Students in the Original Archive Area

Our team includes archaeologists, archive staff and local studies specialists. We're all experienced communicators and have many decades of expertise in historical investigation and education. Whatever your requirements, we'll have the skills you need.

Our activities include:

In addition to our own projects, we also work with local groups and societies to provide training, workshops and activities. From assisting with funding bids to providing expert technical archaeological advice or training volunteers in archive research, we can help.

Our location provides us with the unique advantage of hosting a wealth of resources under one roof: from parish registers and medieval court rolls to a teaching collection of archaeological artefacts spanning hundreds of thousands of years of Worcestershire's history, it’s all here at The Hive.

Historical documents and artefacts are a wonderful connection to the human stories behind past lives. From inspiring pride in a town or village to learning valuable new skills at any stage of life, if you have an idea for a project to bring Worcestershire's history to life, we'd love to hear from you.

To keep up to date with what's going on, take a look at our programme of events. Information on projects, events, new research and tales from the trenches & archives can be found on our blog at explorethepast.co.uk. If you have any questions for our outreach team or if you would like to be added to our mailing list and kept up-to-date with our planned events and activities, please email us or give us a call on 01905 766352.
