Our Mission:
is to work with you to reduce your household rubbish
Your Mission:
is to work with us to cut the amount of household waste in your bin
Together we can do it!
Mission Impossible is a unique project that aims to help you find simple, easy ways to deal with your household rubbish, things that you and your family can do every day. Together we can reduce the amount of rubbish we throw away, minimise waste disposal costs and help the environment.
Mission Impossible currently focuses on four key areas:
RETAINING: encourages you to deal with as much kitchen and garden waste at home using compost bins, digesters and wormeries. We also trialing 'Shredderman', a free home wood chipping service, in certain areas. We are also offering help to purchase under-sink waste disposal units.
REDUCE: its an easy step to make. Mission ImPossible encourages you to buy goods with less packaging, to buy in bulk, to use long life items and to buy only what you need so you end up throwing less away. We have more information on our 'Reduce' pages...
REUSE: encourages greater use of local charities and organisations that provide a re-use service. These groups typically take unwanted furniture, electrical items, bycicles, computers etc, refurbish or repair them and sell them to the public. Profits often go to charitable causes and many of these groups employ staff with learning difficulties.
RECYCLING: encourages greater use of the local Kerbside Recycling Schemes.
