My Services

Welcome to Legal and Democratic Services

The Legal and Democratic Services Division exists to provide a comprehensive, effective, expert and value for money legal and democratic service to all Directorates of the Council and the Corporate decision-making process and manages the Council's political structures within the constitution and ethical framework.
Key Functions
-
to facilitate the Council’s democratic processes by the provision of effective and proper administration and support for elected member roles and conduct
- to provide expert and efficient legal advice and representation to allow the Council to achieve its aims and fulfil its duties within the law
to ensure that the Council acts lawfully and properly in the exercise of its functions

Simon Mallinson

The Head of Legal and Democratic Services, Simon Mallinson, is the Council's Monitoring Officer and provides support for the ethical conduct regime for Members.  He assists with the statutory duties of the County Returning Officer for County Council elections and by-elections.The Division may advise and act in respect of any of the functions of the Council (or other relevant public bodies).Email:  legalservices@worcestershire.gov.uk
