My Services

My Child is affected by bullying, what can I do?

Bullying has a very powerful and distressing impact upon children, young people, and their families. Whether your child is the victim of bullying, or is displaying bullying behaviours, you may need support to deal with the situation. Here is a list of places where you can receive advice, guidance and support, both formal and informal:

Parent Partnership Service

Parent Partnership Service is at arm’s length from Worcestershire’s Children’s Services and is able to give independent and neutral advice. The Parent Partnership Service supports parents/carers of children from 0-16 years in a number of areas, including non-curriculum issues, such as bullying. PPS can also advise on the Non-Curriculum Complaints procedure.

For further information, please look at the Parent Partnership Service Website or contact:

thinkuknow website

www.thinkuknow.co.uk is an online resource promoting safe use of the internet, providing help and advice on a number of issues (including cyberbullying and inappropriate use of mobile phones), and in some circumstances provides the option to report abuse directly to the police via the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre. The site has separate areas for children aged 8-10, young people aged 11-16, parents/carers, and teachers/trainers, offering relevant information and support for all.

Come in to find the latest information on the sites you like to visit, mobiles and new technology. Find out what’s good, what’s not and what you can do about it. If you look after young people there’s an area for you too – with resources you can use in the classroom, at home or just to get with it. Most importantly, there’s also a place which anyone can use to report if they feel uncomfortable or worried about someone they are chatting to online. All the information here is brought to you by the team at the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre.

Please also see helpful sections of the Anti-Bullying Policy:

Although aimed more specifically at schools and supporting agencies, the Safe To Learn guidance from the Department for Children, Schools and Families also offers advice for parents/carers and young people. Please refer to the relevant publication for specific guidance on Cyber-bullying, Homophobic Bullying, Racist, Religious and Cultural Bullying, and Bullying Involving Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. links to these documents can be found on the Resources and Guidance page of this website.
