YOUNG PEOPLE - WHAT WE ARE DOING FOR YOU….

W:DAAT have the job of doing the best we can to make sure that you get the support you need around drugs and alcohol.

Here are some of the things that are happening in Worcestershire:

• Providing a dedicated advisory and support service around drug and alcohol issues for young people aged under 19 within Worcestershire Pathways to Recovery (click here for more info on the specialist young people's service). They also provide targeted drug education for young people who are identified as vulnerable to substance misuse (family history of substance misuse, not accessing mainstream drug education, or with special education needs) - Contact the Education Worker at Space for more details - 08081 783 295

• Providing a service called Inside Out that supports young people whose parents, families or carers use drugs or alcohol (click here for info on Inside Out)

• Helping young people in Worcestershire who are most at risk of developing drug and alcohol problems

• Training and advice for professionals who work with young people so you can always get the best information and support around drugs and alcohol

• Promoting services that help young people around drugs and alcohol so that you know where to go, when you need to, in Worcestershire

• Letting young people know the facts about drugs and alcohol and about where they can find out more

• Developing flexible services that can see you, where it suits you and when it suits you

• Funding or involvement in a variety of projects steered by young people and their ideas

• W:DAAT work with pub and club owners, the Police, Community Safety Partnerships to try to come up with ideas that makes Worcestershire safer on a night out. Long queues at taxi ranks and large crowds gathered together can be intimidating or make getting home safely difficult. Various initiatives are being looked into that could help with the chaos at taxi ranks and fast food shops at the end of the night.
