Worcestershire Schools Forum (WSF)

Introduction

There has been a requirement since January 2003 for LA's to establish a Schools Forum for their area. The framework for their constitution and workings are set in Government Statutory Instrument and Regulations from the Department for Education (DFE).

In essence the setting up of Schools Forums became mandatory for all LA's to enable key local discussion on School Funding matters between a LA and its schools. This has evolved since their introduction and now Schools Forums have specific remits and decision-making powers on local issues contained within the legal framework.

The key functions of Forum set in statute and are the requirement for consultation on the school funding formula, contracts and financial issues. Details of this very wide ranging and increasing brief are detailed within the relevant sections on the web site.
