Consultation and Involvement
'Your County needs You'
The County Council recognises the importance in ensuring that it
consults with the VCS on all decisions made in the County and that
to help inform these decisions the VCS must be represented and
involved from an early stage. From this, not only are the VCS in
the County assured a voice but the council can gain an
increased awareness and knowledge provided through VCS engagement,
allowing for more informed decisions to be made for the county.
As a member of the Worcestershire
Partnership the County Council is signed up to follow the
principles of the Worcestershire Compact.
The group responsible for the Compact are currently in the process
of developing a Consultation and Involvement Code of Practice which
will help inform this process.
However, we are still working hard to ensure we consult with the
VCS on all changes in policy for the County and to ensure
that VCS representatives are involved in our work, helping to
inform the decisions made for the County. The Worcestershire
Infrastructure Consortium facilitate the process of electing
representatives wherever a need is established, however there
is a always a need for more representatives to get involved.
Commitment can vary from one off grant evaluation panels to
working representing the VCS and their views at working or
theme groups on a particular issue or piece of work.
If you are interested in finding out more or feel you
have the knowledge and experience that could benefit the County
please contact Jim Smith from the Worcestershire Infrastructure
Consortium. WIC can inform you of the current
opportunities for representation and offer support and
guidance on the requirements of being a
representative including training and tips on how best to
feedback to the sector. Jim Smith is contactable
