Travel Plans

Worcestershire County Council works with employers,
schools and residents across Worcestershire to develop Travel
Plans. These documents contain different measures, depending on the
type of plan and individual circumstances, to reduce single
occupancy car use.
Employer Travel Plans
Worcestershire County Council is encouraging Worcestershire
Employers to develop an Employer Travel Plan.
An Employer Travel Plan is a package of measures designed to
encourage staff to consider alternatives to single-occupancy
car-use. A plan could include: car-sharing scheme, a commitment to
improving cycling and walking facilities and the promotion of
public transport. It might also support flexible-working
practices such as home-working, telephone and video
conferencing.
Travel plans can offer real benefits not only to the
organisation and its employees, but also to the surrounding
community. It often helps to relieve local parking or congestion
problems or improve public transport connections across the
areas. It may also relieve stress on employees through
reducing delays or providing the opportunity to cut their travel
commitments by working from home on occasion.
Residential Travel Plans
Worcestershire County Council is working with residential groups
and developers to develop Residential Travel Plans.
Residential Travel Plans are documents that outline a package of
measures to reduce the number of car trips generated by a
residential development and increase the opportunities for walking,
cycling or using public transport.
Often this is a requirement of gaining planning permission,
although Worcestershire County Council can advise and assist any
residential group wishing to decrease car use in their area.
