Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Taxi Driver Training and
Assessments
In partnership with both Wolverhampton and
Worcester City Councils, we offer a one-day theory course for
prospective taxi drivers. The morning session covers the
conditions of licence, disability awareness and a wheelchair
clamping demonstration. In the afternoon, candidates are
tested on their understanding of the conditions and demonstrate
their geographical knowledge of the area. Once they have
successfully completed all these tests, they go on to take an
on-road practical test.
We are in partnership with Malvern Hills
District Council and Redditch Borough Council with regards to an
on-road practical test prior to taxi licensing.
Worcestershire County Council offers Private Hire and Hackney
Carriage assessments in partnerships with Wolverhampton City
Council and Worcester City Council.
Assessment Standards:
- Customer Care
- Driving Ability
- Wheelchair Clamping (Hackney Carriage only)
- Geography Knowledge
Hackney Carriage assessments must be carried out in a Hackney
Carriage, whereas a private hire assessment can be taken in the
driver's own vehicle (provided Certificate of Insurance, MOT etc is
shown to assessor).
