Bus Safety

Travelling around Worcestershire by bus offers a convenient, efficient and sustainable way to travel. Following a few important safety tips can ensure that this is a safe and pleasant experience for all:

  • When waiting for the bus, stand away from the kerb
  • Signal clearly to the driver to stop, but stay on the pavement
  • Do not distract the driver in any way while the bus is moving
  • Use seatbelts where these are provided
  • If you have to cross the road after getting off the bus, always allow the bus to move off before attempting to cross. Always use the green cross code
  • As a driver, when overtaking a stationery bus, be aware that children may cross the road
  • Remember that buses in a dedicated bus lane may be travelling faster than other traffic or even in the opposite direction
