The county council's development control team (part of Planning)
handles only minerals and waste developments and the county
council's own developments. For all other commercial, retail or
industrial planning queries, and for householder planning, go to
your district (including city or borough)
Who needs planning permission from us?
The county council handles only those planning
issues connected to minerals and waste. Minerals includes
the extraction of sand, gravel, limestone or other
hardrock. Waste includes:
- Anaerobic digestion
- Energy from Waste (EfW)
- Scrap yard
- Skip waste
- Waste water treatment.

Want to start your own minerals or waste business?
Did you know that after the sand, gravel etc have been
extracted, there's a whole new world of
opportunities. Read about the spin-off businesses that all
began with a deep hole, at A Hole New World.
