Laboratory and Weight Hire
Worcestershire County Council Trading Standards operates
a metrological calibration laboratory at County Hall, Worcester. If
you require accuracy of measurement in terms of mass, volume or
length then the Trading Standards calibration service can assist
you.
We are able to calibrate mass, volume or length that is
traceable to National Standards via NWML (National Weights and
Measures Laboratory). We can test to an accuracy of M1
(working standard category) within the following ranges, 1mg to
20kg, 5ml to 20 litre and up to 20 metres. However if you do not
require M1 accuracy we can test outside this range.
Our mass calibration service is of particular benefit to
customers who need to know the actual mass of the weights/test
pieces they use, or who are required to provide proof of accuracy
for quality assurance purposes.
Whether we are calibrating mass, volume or length measures
which, are covered by our ISO 9001 registration, we follow detailed
and documented procedures to provide our customers with confidence
in the integrity of our reported results.
Each item submitted for calibration is returned with a fully
traceable calibration certificate acceptable for most quality
systems. We are also a notified body under the Non-Automatic
Weighing Instruments (EEC Requirements) Regulations 2000 and the
Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) in respect of liquid fuel
meters and road tanker measuring systems.
Service Delivery
We offer a quick turnaround time. For some calibrations a 'while
you wait' service could be provided.
Hire Weights
Trading Standards operate a weight hire service, we have a total
of 3 tonnes of 20kg and ½ tonne of 10kg cast iron hand
weights. All are calibrated and traceable to the National
Weights and Measures Laboratory.
Bulk Fuel Meter
Trading Standards operate a bulk fuel meter hire service.
This specialist equipment is used to test road tanker meters
that deliver heating oil. The service is available with a
fully trained operator.
