Consumers - Weights & Measures
Weights and measures is one of the traditional
foundation stones of the work of the Trading Standards Officer,
originally called Weights and Measures Inspectors.
Officers test the accuracy of equipment used for sales by weight
or measure and pose as customers to make "test purchases" of goods
to check that the equipment is being used fairly.
Inspections are carried out regularly at trade premises such as
filling stations and supermarkets to ensure that both consumers and
traders can be confident weights and measures equipment is
accurate.
Other examples of what our officers inspect include public
houses to ensure correct measure is being delivered, solid fuel
deliveries and also liquid fuel measured by road tankers.
If you think you have received short weight or measure, or
require further information, please contact the Calibration Team on
01527 881391 or e-mail
wrsenquiries@worcsregservices.gov.uk.
