Licence Summary

  • Anyone who operates a weighbridge that is used by the public and for which a fee is charged must hold a certificate signed by the Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures to show that they have sufficient knowledge for the proper performance of their duties.
  • Worcestershire Regulatory Service is responsible for examining any candidates and issuing certificates under Section 18 of the Weights & Measures Act 1985.

No. It is in the public interest that we must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from us in a reasonable period, please contact us at metrologytss@worcestershire.gov.uk.

Application Evaluation Process

  • Submit electronic application form.
  • A date for the examination will be mutually agreed
  • The examination is conducted on the machine the attendant has to operate.
  • The attendant will be examined using the checklist in the Examination of Weighbridge Attendants form. The results will be recorded and a Pass/Fail recommendation made.
  • The examinee is deemed to pass if, in the opinion of the Officer, the items on the checklist are correctly answered.
  • 2 copies of the Certificate signed by the Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures will be sent to the examinee's employer.
  • The examinee will sign both certificates and return one copy.
  • Licence must be available for inspection on site
