Product Safety

Here in Worcestershire we enforce an extensive range of product safety regulations including controls on fireworks and petroleum licensing.

But as well as carrying out activities to protect the public from unsafe consumer goods, we can also help with advice to consumers and businesses on many aspects of product safety and standards.

There are dozens of laws relating to product safety. Some goods such as toys and electrical products are controlled by specific legislation, but those goods that are not covered by specific legislation must comply with the requirements for general product safety.

Put simply, if you supply new or secondhand products to consumers, they must be safe and if you are a producer, a distributor or importer of goods, there may be specific requirements that apply to you.
