School Travel Plans
What Are They?
- School Travel Plans address issues relevant to journeys to and
from school, including concerns about safety, health and the local
environment.
- School Travel Plans involve the whole school and can include
proposals to reduce car use and increase the options for pupils,
parents and staff to travel by more sustainable modes such as
walking, cycling, car sharing and public transport.
Most Worcestershire schools have a Travel
Plan and, as a result, are seeing an increase in physical activity
levels among their pupils and reduced traffic congestion around the
school gates.
Schools which have not yet developed a Plan,
can download and follow the documents below for guidance on how it
can be done:
It is recommended that plans which are
more than 3 years old should be updated and, again, the above links
can be used to do this.
School Travel Plands should be regularly
reviewed (at least annually) and when it's time to do this, schools
can download and look at the
School Travel Plan review template
(108KB).

and public transport) a realistic and attractive option on the
school journey.
