Resources and Support
Worcestershire's Eco-Schools Directory
Worcestershire's Eco-Schools Directory is a resource
document put together by the LfS team full of useful contacts
relating to the nine Eco-Schools themes.
The LfS Newsletter
Each half term a Learning for Sustainability Newsletter is
produced to inform anyone involved in the school environment about
news, events, funding opportunities and training.
District Eco-Schools Meetings
Each term we hold four to six meetings across the six Districts
of Worcestershire. The meetings are a great opportunity to network,
share practice, enjoy a tour of the host school and get up to
speed with latest developments in LfS and Eco-Schools.
Training
Each year we offer training and events for schools both through
the INSET programme and our own programme. Examples are yearly
Starting and Continuing Eco-Schools and Going for
Green Flag training, details in the LfS newsletters.
Please visit Edulink
for up to date details on all our courses, district meetings, up
and coming events etc.
Hire the Earth Balloon and Global Education in a
Box!
The Earth Balloon has caused quite a
stir in the County and was featured nationally
on BBC TV's Breakfast Time.
The portable, 6.7m diameter, inflatable globe is being used in
County schools for work across the school curriculum; particularly
for Geography and Science.
As well as undertaking work around the exterior of the balloon,
up to a whole class of pupils are able to enter through zipson the
International date Line or Greenwich Meridian.
In addition to supporting traditional subject areas, such as
Geography, the globe is being used as a teaching aid for
Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship education, which are
new features of the National Curriculum.
