Why undertake a strategic review?
The aim of undertaking a strategic review is to
re-evaluate the current housing and support options available in
Worcestershire. Services have evolved over time mainly on a
district by district basis. The strategic review provides the
opportunity to ensure a greater degree of planning and
commissioning of future provisions. This will be in line with
current and future needs and in line with relevant strategies to
ensure joined up working.
This will be a countywide and holistic review to encapsulate the
views of current and ex clients, staff, management committees and
stakeholders/referrers.
Project Governance and Structures
Project Teams are set up to review the current provision for a
particular client group, consolidate current good practices within
Worcestershire and establish the needs and gaps in current service
provision. To add to this research is undertaken, including visiting
services considered to be good practice across the country.
consultation will take place with current and ex-service users and
providers to establish if there are other options/types of support
that may have been chosen had they been available. An evaluation is
carried out to establish what would work best in
Worcestershire and to adopt and share good practice with other
agencies. The work of the Project Team is overseen by the project
board. In some cases this is a specifically designated team of
individuals; in other cases it is made up of members of CHOG+
(Chief Housing Officer's Group plus other involved
individuals).
What does a strategic review involve?
A Project Team and Project Board is set up to review the current
provision, consolidate current good practices within
Worcestershire, the needs and gaps in current service provision,
researching and visiting services considered to be good practice
across the country, consulting with current and ex-service users
and organisations to establish if there are other options/types of
support that may have been chosen had it been available, what would
work best in Worcestershire and to adopt and share good practice
with other agencies. The review will identify best practice and
make a series of recommendations for future shape of services in
Worcestershire.
