Supporting People

Welcome to the Worcestershire Supporting People Partnership home page

The Supporting People programme within Worcestershire is helping more than 20,000 vulnerable people each year to attain or maintain independence, through the provision of housing related support services.

Supporting People Services Directory montage

By reducing reoffending rates, homelessness and rough sleeping, anti social behaviour and the fear of crime through to the provision of housing adaptations to support the frail elderly to stay within their home, the Supporting People programme has been reported to produce substantial public funding cost savings in excess of £50,000,000 within the county per annum (Worcestershire County Council Research and Intelligence Unit, DCLG and CapGemini).

The partnership includes:

Worcestershire County Council, Bromsgrove District Council, Malvern Hills District Council, Redditch Borough Council, Worcester City Council, Wychavon District Council, Wyre Forest District Council, West Mercia Probation Trust, Worcestershire Primary Care Trust.

Quick stats:

  • Supporting People provision in Worcestershire is saving £50,000,000 per annum – this would be the cost to partners if Supporting People didn’t commission such preventative provision.
  • 32,940 positive outcomes achieved to help maintain independent living
  • 10,804 'Health and Wellbeing' outcomes achieved
  • 7,423 'Stronger Communities'  outcomes achieved
  • 6,668 'Economic Success' outcomes achieved
  • 7,177 'Community Safety' outcomes achieved
  • 600 'The Environment' outcomes achieved
  • 268 'Children and Families' outcomes achieved
  • Over 18,000 vulnerable people being supported in 2010/2011

We are a multi agency partnership working together to achieve:

  • positive outcomes for vulnerable communities,
  • strategically planning low level housing related support provision,
  • reduction of point of crisis intervention, and
  • creating significant efficiencies for public funded services.

Above all, a preventative service which meets the needs of vulnerable people in Worcestershire. Services designed for and with service users.
