Safeguarding Adults Board
Worcestershire Safeguarding Adults Board is the lead
organisation for ensuring all adults in the county are able to lead
safe, fulfilling lives and are not subject to abuse or neglect by
others.
The Board, which was established in 2003, is made up of
representatives from the main public organisations who provide
health, social care and public protection services in the county.
The Board also has representatives from people who use these
services and the voluntary sector.
This Board develops strategies to reduce risk and prevent harm
occurring to adults in vulnerable situations and also co-ordinates
and monitors how effectively partner organisations are working
together to implement their own safeguarding responsibilities.
Safeguarding is everyone's business and the Board aims to ensure
all agencies put safeguarding and the promotion of people's
dignity, respect and independence at the heart of any work they
carry out.
Worcestershire County Council is the lead agency for
safeguarding adults but it is the responsibility of all
organisations such as the NHS, Police and Care Quality Commission
to prevent abuse and keep people safe.
The Board has an independent chair in Peter Morgan who was
appointed in 2010.
People aware that abuse or neglect is happening should contact
the County Council's Access Centre on 0845 607 2000.
