Who can provide Chances and Choices?

  • Learning disability services

  • Lots of others

What Chances and Choices cannot do:

  • We cannot give people paid work
  • We cannot provide transport for everyone
  • We cannot provide holidays
  • We cannot provide a five day a week service for everyone
  • We cannot treat everyone the same. This is because some people will need more help than others.

Other people can help with things like:

  • Finding paid or unpaid work
  • Training for work
  • Learning new skills
  • Finding money to pay for support such as Direct payments or the Independent Living Fund
  • Travel
  • Holidays

What we want to do more of:

  • Listen to people with learning disabilities and help them to do what is important to them
  • Help people with learning disabilities to have more choices
  • Help people to keep friends and make more
  • Be flexible – provide support during the evenings and weekends
  • Listen to family carers and officer support
  • Move away from supporting people in large buildings
  • Work with others who offer support
  • Support people to do things out and about
  • Respect and support people's religious and cultural needs
