The Alzheimer's Society provide seven Peer Support groups:
- Worcester Café
- Malvern Café
- Evesham Café
- Al's Café
- Redditch Café
- Droitwich Café
- Wyre Forest Café.
Peer support services bring people together in group settings to
give those affected by dementia and their carers an understanding
of how other people affected by dementia perceive and cope with
their own illness and everyday illness related problems.
Peer groups and cafés provide:
- An informal learning environment which delivers:
- information about dementia
- practical tips about coping with dementia
- social networking opportunities within the café and outside the
service
- an opportunity to make a valuable
contribution.
- A forum where people with dementia their carers and family
members can access advice from health and social care professionals
and also from other voluntary agencies.
- Support to access help and services provided by the Alzheimer’s
society and other health, social care and voluntary agencies and
thus reduce the potential of crises.
- People affected by dementia can access emotional and practical
support from their peers to enable them to live well with
dementia.
- Cafes and groups help to reduce and prevent social isolation of
people with dementia and their carers, thus establishing a new
circle of friends and acquaintances.
- Talking openly about dementia helps to reduce stigma associated
with dementia.

Bereavement Support Worcestershire
The death of a loved one or close friend is one of the most
difficult times in each of our lives. Whether this is expected,
following a long term illness, or sudden and unexpected the
grieving process is deeply personal.
The aim of the new web site and service is to provide you with
information and links to organisations and services which may be
able to offer support and assistance across a range of needs from
practical activities to emotional support. In addition to a wide
range of local and national services the site also provides a
direct link to new regional bereavement services recently
established for the residents of Worcestershire.
Details of the Bereavement Support Worcestershire can be found
on the Bereavement
Support Worcestershire website.
Autism Friendly Film Screenings
Autism friendly screenings are mainstream films shown in a
sensory friendly environment. Lights are on low, sound is turned
down, trailers are omitted and people can bring their own food and
drink, make noise and move around the cinema as they feel
comfortable. The screenings are for anyone who would benefit from
the subtle differences made to the cinema environment.
To view a full list of participating cinemas please visit the
Dimensions UK website. Tickets can be bought in advance
through the ODEON accessibility helpline 0800 138 3315.
