ONS Mid-Year Population Estimates 1991-2010
Population statistics from 1991 to the most recent figures
available are presented here.
The most recent set of mid-year estimates received from ONS are
from 2010, and were released in June 2011. Mid-2010 estimates for
smaller geographies will not be released until later in the year.
The mid-year estimates for 2011 have a scheduled release
date by ONS of late June 2012, and will be made available here
soon after.
All figures are for the current boundaries of each district.
The ONS mid-year estimates are released in the summer of
each year, and the population data will be updated as soon as they
are received.
The largest population increases over the past few years have
been seen in Bromsgrove and Wychavon due to the high level of net
migration into these districts. The more urban districts of
Redditch and Worcester City have in recent times tended to have a
small net out-migration, but do register an increase of population
due to a higher number of births compared to the number of deaths.
Full details of components of change are available.

Ward
Estimates
Mid-year estimates at ward level for 2010 have been produced for
England & Wales as "experimental statistics". The methodology
used to produce the ward estimates differs to the method used to
produce the local authority mid-year estimates, and is subject to
further development.
The mid-2010 ward estimates are consistent with the published
local authority mid-year estimates for that year.
Click for mid-2010 Ward
Estimates.
Smaller Area Population Estimates
It is possible to derive population estimates of areas smaller
than wards i.e villages, certain areas within towns or other places
of interest. Please contact Mike Rice for further details
Indicative Population Estimates 2006-10
On 17th November 2011 ONS published an improved method for
estimating local authority long-term immigration that makes better
use of administrative data. Local Authority immigration estimates
were also released with corresponding Indicative Estimates. These
"Indicative Estimates" do not replace the official
mid-year estimates, but are used in the ONS 2010-based
population projections, so are replicated here.
The mid-2010 indicative estimates for Worcestershire are:-
