Recent trends for Worcestershire show that the county has been gaining population, at an average rate of around 1,700 per annum since 2001. The majority of this increase (around 1,300 per annum) is due to net migration into the county, with the increase in natural change in comparison smaller at around 400 per annum.

The largest population increases since 2001 have been seen in Bromsgrove, Malvern Hills and Wychavon due to the high level of net migration into these districts. The more urban districts of Redditch and Worcester City have in recent times tended to have a small net out-migration, but do register an increase of population due to a higher number of births compared to the number of deaths.

Migration

Official figures for internal and interational migration are received from ONS annually. International migration is migration to and from areas within the UK, and international migration is to and from areas overseas.

The Demographic Report 2005-10 has been produced by the R&I unit and looks in details at migration patterns of people moving in and out of the County and disticts.

Births and Deaths

Official figures for births and deaths in Worcestershire and the districts are received from ONS annually.
