Population Statistics

The R&I Unit holds information on the population of Worcestershire. In addition to the census material released every 10 years, ONS release annual mid-year estimates for Worcestershire and the six districts therein. These mid-year estimates are split here into gender and 5 year age groups.

Population statistics for Worcestershire and each of the districts are available here, as well as population figures for smaller areas, such as the wards and the main towns within Worcestershire.

Statistics on population by ethnicity for Worcestershire and the districts are also available via the link.

Components of Change (population change split by that due to natural change, and that due to migration) is also available.

Demographic Report giving details of the most recent (2005-10) population and migration details for Worcestershire and the districts, including current population, age structure, ethnicity, movements in and out of the county, and projected population and household figures, is available here

Population Projections

The R&I Unit also produce population projections for Worcestershire and the 6 districts. These projections are based on information obtained from ONS on births and deaths, as well as migration statistics. The Unit uses Popgroup to obtain projections up to the year 2026.

Further population information can be found via the 2001 Census

Alternatively, general population information at a regional and national level can be accessed via the Office for National Statistics.
