As early as 1886 the Bilford Road site was a Sand and Gravel
pit. By 1961/63 the site had been infilled.
Waste is up to 6m thick and comprises a mixture of inert material
such as brick, concrete, ash with some biodegradable material such
as wood.
In 2009 22 monitoring locations were drilled on the site to
install monitoring points for gas, groundwater and leachate
monitoring.
