Closure notice - Worcestershire History Centre is closing
From 21st April 2012 the History Centre branch will be closed to enable us to prepare to move premises. Join us at our new home in the Hive in July 2012. You can follow the progress of our move on our blog.

By Car

Directions from the M5:

If travelling southwards on the M5 leave at junction 5, then at roundabout take the 4th exit onto the A38 signposted Droitwich. Continue on the A38 for approximately 10 miles then follow signs to the City Centre. Follow signs for city car parks.

If travelling northwards on the M5 leave at junction 7, then at roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A44. At next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A4440 following signs to the City Centre, and take the first exit for the following two roundabouts. Follow signs for city car parks.

There is no car parking available at the History Centre but there are several car parks available in the city centre. For more information and a map showing the location of car parks please visit the Worcester City Council web site.

Perdiswell Park and Ride  is situated on the A38 north of Worcester and brings you into the centre of the city.

  • From the M5 Motorway, Junction 5, Southbound
    Signposted A38 Droitwich
    Follow signs for A38 westbound for Droitwich & Worcester via Droitwich By-Pass and Fernhill Heath
    Then follow signs for ‘P & R’ from Fernhill Heath, along Droitwich Road
  • From the M5 Motorway, Junction 6, Northbound
    Take A449 towards Kidderminster
    Then follow signs for ‘P & R Worcester North’, via Fernhill Heath
  • From the A449, Kidderminster, towards M5 Motorway, Junction 6
    Follow P & R sign
    From Claines Island follow signs for M5 and Blackpole
    Then follow signs for ‘P & R Worcester North’, via Fernhill Heath
  • From A44 East
    At Spetchley Island follow A4538 towards Droitwich and the M5, Junction 6
    At Junction 6 Island, take 3rd exit A449 towards Kidderminster
    Follow signs for ‘P & R Worcester North’, via Fernhill Heath

By Train

Worcester City is served by two train stations: Worcester Foregate Street and Worcester Shrub Hill.

For passenger information telephone: 0845 748 4950.

Trains run into Worcester from Birmingham, Malvern and other local stations on a regular basis. There is also a service from London Paddington (PAD) to Worcester Foregate Street (WOF) which is operated by First Great Western. For more details on travelling by train, please visit: www.nationalrail.co.uk/

Foregate Street station is a 3 minute walk to the Worcestershire History Centre, Shrub Hill Station is a 15 minute walk.

The CrownGate bus station in the centre of Worcester City is only a few minutes walk from the History Centre. For more information on bus times and routes, please visit our Worcestershire bus services page.

By Bicycle

Worcestershire History Centre is few minutes from the Worcester City Circular Loop cycle route. For more information please visit our Worcester Cycle Leisure Guides page:

Racks are available to chain your bikes up to, either in Trinity Passage or on the High Street, both of which are nearby. Please note, however, that we cannot take responsibility for the security of your bike when using these facilities.
