Photographic Work
Self-Service, by permit
A photographic
permit system was introduced on 2nd January 2010.
Customers are advised that a photographic permit will be necessary
if you wish to use digital cameras and mobile phone cameras in the
County Hall branch and Worcestershire History Centre. The fees are
a result of consultation with customers across both public branches
and via our website.
The following fees apply:
Day Permit - £4.50 - This permit is valid for
the day of issue for use in both public branches, irrespective of
the number of photographs taken.
5 Day Permit - £16 - This
permit is valid for three calendar months, for use in both
public branches, irrespective of the number of photographs taken.
It can be used on any 5 days within the three month period.
Annual Permit - £35 - This permit is valid for
one calendar year, for use at both public branches,
irrespective of the number of photographs taken.
Please note that the permits are not
transferable, and must be produced on the day(s) when
you wish to use it.
Some material stored in the Record Office is subject to
copyright restrictions, and copyright permission may need to be
obtained alongside the permit. And our responsibility to
the records in our care may mean that some material may not be
suitable for copying and a member of staff must be consulted for
advice before photography is undertaken.
Owing to the restrictions in the space available in both public
search rooms, and the potential disruption to the work of other
customers, we regret that other photographic equipment such as
tripods and photographic lighting etc, is not permitted.
Scanning and Printing
We are pleased to draw attention to our digitisation / scanning
service for those wishing to obtain good quality reproductions of
documents held in our collections. Unlike photocopying,
photographing or scanning does not damage the documents, thus
preserving them for as long as possible and ensuring their survival
for future generations, and offers you the opportunity to receive
colour copies of documents important to your research.
The cost of obtaining copies are as follows:
For requests to provide an electronic copy*
| Scanned images |
£7.50 per image |
| Further 3 images in the same order |
£3.75 per copy |
A fee of £17.50 per hour is charged for digitising
more than 4 images.
